Construction, naming and modifications
The Leman Russ can be constructed on automated Forge World assembly lines that are powered by fusion reactors, moving along on conveyor belts while pneumatic hammers shape plates into armour. The whole process is supported by servitors and overseen by tech-priests. If necessary, due to enemy invasion forcing the servitors to be conscripted, the assembly process can be manually finished by the tech-priests. After finishing the assembly process, the newly constructed tanks are transported in batches of 10,000 units by servitor-driven trains to star´portsstar ports, where they are transferred off-world by bulk haulers. If necessary, for example due to enemy invasion forcing the servitors to be conscripted, the assembly process can be manually finished by the tech-priests.38
On Forge Worlds, every Leman Russ is named by an automated process, generating a designation not based upon the name of a historical person, machine particular battle or creature triumph but simply by a scrap of concept-code run by an old cogitator.38
Already during the construction process, tiny flaws, errors of manufacture and minuscule modifications will be incorporated into the tank's design over time. Later, in Guard service, a Leman Russ will be modified by its crew in dozens of tiny, different but essential ways, at least until the tank is returned to a Mechanicus facility for refit, where most of the modifications will be reverted unless overlooked.38
