Kasmoteph used scanners he designed himself to discover the trace of a powerful relic{{Fn|2b}} aboard the ''[[Savant (Ship)|Savant]]'', an [[Adeptus Mechanicus]] vessel.{{Fn|1a}} Not wanting his lord [[Nekhtoshar the Immeasurable]] to take credit for securing the prize, Kasmoteph prepared a retinue consisting of [[Immortal]]s, [[Canoptek Wraith]]s, [[Deathmark]]s and [[Necron Warrior|Warriors]], and proceeded to raid the vessel without his lord's consent.{{Fn|2a}}
He used chronomancy to cripple the ship without harming the precious contents within{{Fn|2b}}, allowing his forces to board and easily deal with the resistance.{{Fn|1b}}{{Fn|2d}}{{Fn|3a}} Initially, Kasmoteph gloated as his plan unfolded successfully{{Fn|2a}}{{Fn|2c}}, but he would later realize he underestimated the relic's power.{{Fn|2d}} When [[Magos|Magos Technicus]] [[Tathyk Shon]] sought to activate it,{{Fn|3b}}{{Fn|3c}} Kasmoteph unleashed his chrono-immaterial powers.{{Fn|3c}}{{Fn|3d}} His attempt was disrupted by a malevolent sentience, and locked the entire raid in a temporal loop.{{Fn|3d}}
