The Avenger is a heavy multirole aircraft suitable in almost any atmospheric warzone.4b Regarded as a robust design4b, the Avengers main role is conducting high-speed, low-level attacks on ground targets. It exceeds most other Imperial aircraft of its size in firepower, and it is particularly effective against armoured targets due to the Avenger bolt cannon and twin Lascannons it carries.1 The twin Lascannons can be replaced with twin Autocannons.5 The bolt cannon shoots plutonium-cored anti-armour bolt-shell at a firing rate of twenty rounds per second.6
Additional weaponry consists of a rear-mounted Heavy Stubber to defend against enemy fighters and wing-mounted pylons that can carry bombs, rockets, and air-to-air or air-to-ground missiles as well as additional fuel tanks to increase range. While not a dedicated void craft, it is environmentally sealed and can enter a planets atmosphere from orbit.4b The Avenger can be modified with heavy modar equipment to operate at night.7
Its main targets are armoured vehicle formations and high-value strategic assets such as munitions or fuel dumps. The Avenger is an ancient design, believed to originate from Holy Terra during the Age of Strife. It was adopted by forces supporting Sebastian Thor during the bloody wars of faith and schism known as the Age of Apostasy.1
