A young Belisarius Cawl worked on [[Ryza]] for a time while seeking refuge from the aftermath of the [[Horus Heresy]]. While conducting a census survey he states he is ''"on the business of the Technarchy of Ryza and the Holy Synod."'' Given the context, he is likely referring to the Martian Synod and not the the [[Holy Synod]] of the [[Ecclesiarchy]] (which wouldn't exist until thousands of years later).{{Fn|23}}
