Gideon IV is an Archeotech World in the Gideon System.1
History
When the Gideon System was initially found by an Adeptus Mechanicus Explorator Fleet, it was deemed to be unremarkable and of no value to the Imperium. This all changed sometime later, though, when Gideon IV was discovered and scans of the world revealed its vast mineral wealth and the ruins of an ancient and dead civilization. It is not known how the world was not detected in the initial exploration of the System, but many Imperials claim Gideon IV just appeared out of nowhere. Gideon IV's discovery led the Imperium to send a small fleet to claim the world, but they were not the only faction in the Galaxy to do so. This included the Asuryani wished to claim it as a Maiden World, while the T'au Empire wanted to claim Gideon IV for the Greater Good. The Necrons and even Hive Fleet Kraken, along with Genestealer Cults, were drawn to Gideon IV as well. However , none of the factions gave thought, as to what caused the demise of the world's ancient civilizationcivilisation.1  Soon numerous fleets were orbiting the world and began deploying their forces to its surface. However, as they did so, a storm erupted across Gideon IV, which scattered the landings of every factions' forces. Before they could regroup, the skies began to boil and suddenly their orbiting fleets could no longer be seen or contacted. The world also became completely silent, with not even its fauna making any noise at all. As they were unable to establish communication from Gideon IV's surface, some of the forces attempted to return to orbit to make contact with the fleets instead. This was met with disaster, though, as their crafts were destroyed after hitting some kind of shield that now enveloped the world. Mayhem then erupted, as the forces on Gideon IV realized they were now trapped there. The different Astra Militarum Regiments present suffered a blow to their morale and mass desertions began to occur. Some Commanders became warlords, who started to form their own empires across Gideon IV. Each declared themselves as following the Emperor and began attacking other Regiments they deemed to be "heretical". The Space Marines there were also impacted by the realization that they were trapped, as natural rivalries between them led to open conflict between their Chapters. Even the T'au Empire's forces were disarray, as the Ethereal who had led them to Gideon IV was still with their fleet. As madness and warfare erupted, each faction or group attempted to claim the world or to unlock its secrets and thus began the Battle for Gideon IV.1
