After the formation of the [[Great Rift]], Avalus experienced frequent attacks by [[Chaos]] and [[Xenos]] forces. Shortly after his return, [[Lion El'Jonson]] and his growing force of followers manifested within the jungles of Avalus using his [[Forestwalk]]. The Lion declared the world under his protection, an action which drew the attention of the [[Ten Thousand Eyes]] warband. The Lion and his followers were able to defeat the Chaos attack, and used the [[Astropath]]s on Avalus to announce the formation of the [[Lion's Protectorate]] across the region. Avalus has since become the center centre of Lion El'Jonson's growing empire.{{Fn|1b}}
