The battle saw the [[White Scars]] and [[Emperor's Children]] conduct a high-speed duel across Lorin Alpha, the last critical bottleneck and point of defence on the last stable space lines connecting [[Terra]] to the northern [[Imperium]].{{Fn|1}}{{Fn|2}}
As the ground forces of the Emperor's Children and the White Scars crossed blades across the surface of Lorin Alpha, Legion aircraft teared across the sky in hypersonic skirmishes. The [[Fire Raptor]] squadrons of the IIIrd [[Legion]] bracketed their loyalist foes in perfectly coordinated strafing runs, driving them into the kill-zones of Emperor's Children tactical-squads, rapid-deployed ahead of their advance by [[Storm Eagle]] transporttransports.{{Fn|3}}
However, the Traitors' tactic was disrupted as squadrons of lightning-swift White Scars [[Xiphon Interceptor]]s arrived to relieve their grounded brethren. The Vth Legion's pilots drove their aircraft hard, pushing their powerful engines to breaking point as they shattered the practiced formations of the Emperor's Children. A deadly clash ensued as Vth Legion interceptors whirled and stroke like hawks in the heavens, denying the IIIrd Legion ground forces of their aerial support which soon forced the traitors to retreat.{{Fn|3}}
