Vervuhive was one of many Hive Cities on the world of Verghast. Producing large quanities of materials for the Imperial Crusade. It was attacked by [[Ferrozoica]] 90 years before during what was called the "Trade War" and when it was attacked again, most of the Hives citizens and military staff thought it was just another "Trade War" and that Vervunhive would prevail again.
But when [[Commissar]] Kowle led an armoured division out to meet the forces of Zoica, the Zoican army massed in the millions. Vervunhive could muster approximately 500,000 troopers out of a population of over 40 million people but Ferrozoica was approximately 1/3 smaller in population and size than Vurvunhive.
With the arrival of [[Northern Collective|North Col]] Hive troops and the Imperial Guard regiments consisting of the [[Roane Deepers]], [[Royal Volpone]], [[Tanith First and Only|Tanith]] and [[Narmenian]] Armoured Regiments, the battle for Verghast had begun.
[[Vannick]] hive was the first major casualty of the War when Ferrozoica launched Nuclear weapons and all but destroyed the hive. With the Verunhive leaders debating reasons why Zoica would destroy rather than capture the hive, [[Colonel-Commissar]] [[Ibram Gaunt]] made the judgement that with the size of Zocia's forces and the tactics they were using, that the whole hive had actually fallen to [[Chaos]] and that this was more than just a Trade war.
The battle of Vurvunhive had raged on. The outer habitats destroyed early on in the war with long range Artillery. From the rubble of the outhabs and other civilian areas came the [[Scratch Companies]] led by such people as [[Gol Kolea]] and [[Agun Soric]]. The Imperial forces were on the verge of defeat when [[Ibram Gaunt]] led a strike force of Scratch Troopers, Tantih and Volpone into the mobile base of the enemy and destroyed it.
With the hive all but destroyed [[Warmaster]] [[Macroth]] created the [[Act of Conosilation]] where civilians could join up with the Imperial Guard regiments or move onto the new hives being created.
