Magos Vathek is a heretek operating in the Calixis sector.
Biography
The Adeptus Mechanicus keeps the background of Vathek classified, even against the Inquisition, though both groups seek to eliminate him.1
The Calixian Conclave believes that he previously worked as an Explorator for Archmagos Paracelsus Thule.
Now though, apart from evading capture, Vathek works tirelessly to discover a technology, whether ancient, heretical, or xenos in nature, to restore life to dead flesh.1
Vathek has personally killed thousands of Imperial citizens in pursuit of his goal, and has managed to restore some corpses to 'unlife'. He has also uncovered many proscribed technologies in the process. He hides out on populated worlds to abduct people to experiment on, but otherwise avoids all human contact.1
Equipment
Vathek disdains personal combat but he does possess a ripper autopistol as well as five mechadendrites and a servo-arm if things get desperate. Rather, he keeps a force of combat servitors that he controls directly, with him at all times, supplemented sometimes by the reanimated corpses created by his experiments. He also heavily traps any place that he chooses to live in.1
He also possesses a piece of techno-arcana, possibly created in the forges of Sarcosa-Omikron, called a Sarcosan Wave Generator. This device preserves and mends dead flesh and briefly gives corpses a twisted semblence of life. Vathek installed this machine directly into his torso, allowing him to control the corpses he temporarily reanimates with it. It emits an unnerving moaning sound.1
