Hello Mr. Stewart - I'm a contributor to the Warhammer 40k independent wiki (Lexicanum) and have a petty question: can I get you on record saying that the Reclaimers are a reference to the Wombles?

Alex Stewart's response is as follows:

Dear [name],
Well spotted!
Back in the day, when the first plastic Space Marine figures were released for 1st edition 40K/Rogue Trader, they were generally referred to by the gaming community as 'Womble Marines,' and I couldn't resist painting mine up that way. So when I needed an Astartes chapter for the Cain novels I just used my tabletop home brew one. Plus, I thought it would amuse anyone who spotted the reference from the description of their armour colours.
The other non-codex chapter Cain and Amberley mention occasionally, the Bone Knives, aren't really a reference to anything; the name just occurred to me in the moment of typing, sounded appropriately Space Marine-y for a Blood Angels successor chapter, and stuck. Though I do have the colour scheme I mentioned for them in mind for when I eventually get round to painting up the Primaris units from my pile of shame...
Hope that helps!
All the best,
Alex
