The Mauler was designed to be a fast-attack ship that can can close-in with larger, [[warp jump|Warp-capable ]] spaceships and deliver heavy, keel-breaking ordnance.{{Fn|1}}

The Mauler can be completely overhauled to be fast, stealthy and durable and can have non-standard and quasi-legal systems like [[vox]]-scramblers and interlocutor beacons installed. It can also feature an advanced [[medicae ]] suite.{{Fn|1}}
