'''Space Marine Bike Squadrons''' are fast moving light attack units designed to outflank enemy forces and, if need be, launch rapid assaults on enemy positions. Bike Squadrons are part of the 2nd-5th and 8th companies of a standard [[Codex Astartes]] Space Marine [[chapter]], counting as support units.<sup>1</sup>
The squadron consists of a [[Sergeantsergeant]] and between two and four [[Bikesbike]]rs, with each bike mounts mounting a [[twin-linked]] [[Bolterbolter]] and each biker carrying [[Frag Grenadesfrag grenade]]s. Up to two of the bikers may take a [[Flamerflamer]], [[Meltagunmeltagun]] or [[Plasma Gunplasma gun]] and the squad may take [[Krak Grenadeskrak grenades]] and [[Melta Bombsmelta bombs]]. Also, one [[Attack Bikeattack bike]] armed with either a [[Heavy Bolterheavy bolter]] or [[Multimulti-melta]] may join the squadron.<sup>1</sup>
When used by [[chapters]] which do not follow the Codex Astartes, the name and frequency of Bikes can change. The [[Dark Angels]] second company, the [[Ravenwing]], is completely mounted on Bikes, Attack Bikes and Land Speeders.<sup>2</sup> The Salamanders use less companies but with more marines in each and so bikes only feature in the second, third and fourth companies.<sup>3</sup>
