Overview
Bikes are used by the Space MarinesMarines, Chaos Space MarinesMarines, OrksOrk s and SquatsSquats, although use by the Imperial Guard is not unheard of. They are often used for reconnaissance and rapid support. Bikes are defined as having two wheels only, three wheelers are classed as TrikesTrikes. Having two wheels allows good acceleration while also giving greater movement to the rider as they can lean into their corners while other vehicles have to rotate the wheels to corner, giving a larger turning circle.
Space Marine bikes are armed with twin-linked Boltersbolter s mounted between the handle-bars.1 Chaos Space Marine bikes are of a nearly identical design to Space Marine bikes although the riders often carry Close Combat Weapons for greater combat effectivenessto slaughter their enemies in passing.2 Ork Warbikes are ramshackle devices machines but are study sturdy enough to fulfil the Ork desire to go fast. They are often painted red for extra speed and are deadly in combat.3 Squat bikes are sturdy and designed to move Squat warriors rapidly around the battlefield where they can engage in combat with various deadly combat weapons.4-p182
The Eldar (also Craftworld Eldar), HarlequinsHarlequin s and Dark Eldar are more advanced, using JetbikesJetbike s that hover a few meters off the ground using anti-grav technology, while the Eldar ExoditesExodites, Kroot and Feral Orks are not advanced enough technologically to make use of such devices, rather finding relying instead on Cavalryhorse to be more to their tastess, warboars and the like.
The Tau and Necrons don't technically use bikes, however the closest things they have are Tetras and Destroyers, although these too make use of anti-grav technology.
