The '''Ultramarines Honour Guard''' is a highly elite group of [[Marines]] who can act either as a group of as leaders of squads. They are made up of marines who have been honoured with an [[Axe of Ultramar]]. They are rare and hard to make but are highly effective weapons. Only the most courageous of the Ultramarines ever come close to earning this honour, and then only some of them will achieve it. They are formed into an honour guard for the [[Chapter Banner]] which usually resides in the [[Fortress of Hera]] on [[Macragge]]. Because only one force can take the banner at a time, it is unknown where the banner will go next so members of the Honour Guard are spread throughout the Chapter and when the banner is revealed the honour guard will be formed from those within the companies fighting with the banner.
The will sometimes form into a unit of between 2 and 7 [[Marine Honour Guards]] and a [[Company Standard Bearer|Chapter Ancient]] (Bearer of the Chapter Banner) and [[Chapter Champion]]. They are armed with [[Bolters]], [[Axes of Ultramar]], [[Frag Grenades]] and [[Krak Grenades]]. The Chapter Ancient will carry the [[Banner of Macragge]] and the Champion has [[Honour Blades]] and [[Artificer Armour]]. They may be mounted in a [[Rhino]], [[Razorback]] or [[Land Raider]]. They may also replace a single unit in a [[Command Squad|Command]], [[Tactical Squad|Tactical]] or [[Devastator Squad]]
