Necromunda has a feudal heirarchy hierarchy with Helmawr at the very top. The society Helmawr rules over is divided into multiple factions locked in an ever-changing web of compitition competition and co-operation cooperation with each other. Lord Helmawr himself is unconcerned with the activities of these lesser factions – he deals directly with the most powerful groups, offering them support in exchanges exchange for their loyalty. If a major player in this power game proves to be weak or disloyal, it is a simple matter for Helmawr to withdraw his support; indeed, indead even the rumour that he may intend to do so is often enough to encourage feudal enemies to turn on each other.{{Fn|1}} He is known to have fathered a son, [[Kal Jerico|son]] , with the mysterious [[Heleana Jerico ]].{{Fn|2}}

During the [[Great Rift]]'s [[Noctis Aeterna]], [[Necromunda (planet)|Necromunda]] was left in an upheaval and Gerontius struggled to bring order to the [[Hive Worldhive world]]. Sensing a perfect moment to strike, a creator of a [[Biomorticbiomortic assassin]] unleashed her upon [[House Helmawr]]'s [[Hive Spire|Spire]]. Due to the impact of the giant [[Warp Stormwarp storm]], the [[Assassinassassin]] was able to reach Gerontius while he was conducting a meeting, and the Lord of Necromunda was struck down. However, Gerontius' s guards fired upon Biomortic the assassin before she could ensure he was dead and in the process they shattered a nearby wall floor to ceiling window. The resulting air pressure differential caused the Assassin assassin to be pulled out of the shattered window and ended her threat to Gerontius. However, he was left mortally wounded by the Assassin's her attack and Gerontius had to be placed within a [[Stasis Casketstasis casket]] to prevent him from dying.{{Fn|3a}}
