==Recruitment==

The Ultramarines continue the tradition, begun by Guilliman, of recruiting from the worlds of Ultramar. There is rarely a shortage of volunteer [[Aspirant]]s, since the Ultramarines are revered throughout the realm, and many families can boast of having sent several generations of their sons to serve the Chapter.{{Fn|12a}}{{Fn|27}} Currently the Ultramarines first look to [[Macragge]]'s [[Ultramar Auxilia]] [[Juventia]] for Aspirants, due to the level of their training.{{Fn|69}}

[[Aspirants]] who survive training at one of the barrack institutions in [[Ultramar]], [[human]] youths are inducted into the Chapter as [[Scout]]s, as the Codex dictates, before completing their transformation into full [[Space Marines]].{{Fn|1h}} Those who fail their trials, however, can be turned into [[Aspirant Servitor]]s, which are then used by the [[Ultramarines]] to later fatally test new groups of Aspirants.{{Fn|70}}
