==Formation of the Inquisition==
The Inquisition is believed to have been created by the [[Emperor of Mankind]] shortly before his internment within the [[Golden Throne]]. There were originally only two Orders within the Inquisition, but a third (the [[Ordo Hereticus]]) was created after the events of the [[Age of Apostasy]].
In the recent novel Flight of the Eisenstein more information is given. This is that, after defeating a daemon of Nurgle on Luna, the surviving non-traitors of the Death Guard, led by Nathaniel Garro, along with the Remembrancers who accompanied them, were formed into the original Inquisition, and from the outset the purpose was to monitor mutants, heretics, phykers and aliens.
