With the coming of [[Primaris Space Marine]]s, it was thought that the ill-effects of the Canis Helix might be mitigated. However after extensive trials by [[Wolf Priest]]s, it was found that even Primaris scions of Russ will so suffer the Curse of the Wulfen.{{Fn|49}}
Some time after the Horus Heresy, the gene-seed of the Space Wolves suffered a mutation that makes it compatible only with humans from Fenris. {{Fn|14}} This is why the Space Wolves had no successor Chapters before the Primaris upgrade.
