The Alpha Legion was always the most secretive of all the Space Marine Legions. Hence, what little information we possess comes from the discoveries of Inquisitor Kravin of the Ordo Malleus.
==Pre-Heresy==Alpharius (also known as the Last Primarch and to some as AlphariusOmegon1) was one of the twenty Primarchs created by the Emperor in the earliest days of the Imperium, just after the end of the of Strife of . Like the Alpha Legionother Primarchs, he was sucked from Terra by the Gods of Chaos and placed on a far-away world in an attempt to prevent the last coming of the lost sons Age of the Imperium.== Secrets and Lies ==It should be noted that the Legion 's trademark secrecy extends to be foundrecords of their Primarch. While most other Primarchs Little recorded information on his background exists, aside and almost all of what is currently known by the Imperium comes from the information provided by Rogal DornInquisitor Kravin, were found on of the worlds they had been cast upon, Alpharius came upon Malleus' Fleet . Inquisitor Kravin was subsequently believed to have been tainted by the Alpha Legion and his current whereabouts are unknown. Hence, much of the Imperial data concerning the Primarch could be considered suspect, and indeed there are some who believe the whole Kravin affair was an Alpha Legion plot to plant misinformation in an unnamed systemthe Imperial records.2
Using a ragtag fleet of primitive one and two-man fighters he cleverly put == Omegon ==The greatest secret about the advance ships of Alpha Legion Primarch is apparently told to none outside the Luna Wolves' fleet in a precarious positionLegion, which necessitated the intervention of Horus himselfand has always been thus. Arriving on his endangered cruiser For, he soon learned that a small team unlike any of boarders was making its way towards the bridgeother Primarchs, Alpharius has an identical twin: Omegon. The cruiser was at high alert as the five boarders burst onto It is unknown if the bridge. Quickly four of them were dispatched by Bolter shots from Horus. The fifth oneEmperor designed this, who towered or was ever even over the Luna Wolves' marines dodged Horus' fifth shot, and continued to advance regardless aware of the other bolts that were hitting him. Alpharius stopped inches away from Horus, who then started laughing, as he recognized that he had found the last Primarchit.
No mention did Alpharius make and Omegon are both the Primarch of his homeworldthe Legion, although 'Alpharius' is the public face and appears as the more senior of the two. However, he was clearly impressed with Horus, who kept him at his side Though as both are identical it is possible for some months before sending him back them to Terra to meet switch roles and have 'Omegon' play the Emperorpublic role. Their meeting was, They have been described as all times when the Emperor found "one of his lost sons, surrounded with much celebration. However, since the Great Crusade was in full swing, little time was spent soul in idle rejoicing two bodies" and collectively have been referred to as simply "Alpharius was quickly given command of the Alpha Legion, created a few decades before. Following their Primarch, they also had no clear homeworld, just many bases scattered across the Galaxy most of them secret or hiddenOmegon".
The marines While the Astartes of the Alpha Legion , once at least, made an attempt to all look alike, both Alpharius and Omegon were tall and strong as well as extremely smart like their Primarchstill somewhat distinctive. Alpharius wasted no time and began to develop original strategic doctrines that have dictated Taller than the actions rest of his legion to this very day. Indeedthe Legion, eschewing brute force in favor bald and possessed of cunninga heavy brow, they somewhat resembled their brother, the Alpha Legion quickly developed a style that was uniquely theirsHorus. Instead of wasting men through frontal strikes led by savagery and/or fanaticism or individual courage Unlike him, Alpharius believed in a flexible approach and Omegon had piercing eyes that seemed to combat. He encouraged adaptation and self-sufficiency amongst his menglitter, training them as teams, rather than as individuals, not believing in useless personal courage. Sometimes he would even disappear just before appearing to shift colour from a battle cold arctic blue to see how his Legion would fare in his absencea shimmering green. He constantly insisted on his Legion's adaptability, The overall impression was one of nobility and routinely set upon them challenges, even in the midst of combatintelligence. He emphasized attacking from many directions at once, using misdirection by leaking false information One way to his foes, fomenting dissention in opposing forces, using inflitrators to strike at tell the enemy's rear or center, and coopting some two apart was when Omegon was performing as commander of Effrit Stealth Squad; large portions of his opponents for his own cause. Deception power armour and psychological warfare gear were clearly at the center painted black and otherwise darkened. The armour worn by Alpharius was not particularly different from that of his doctrinean ordinary Alpha Legionnaire.1
This had two major consequences. First, since this approach required very little in terms of manpower, his forces were far more spread out than other Legions, with no adverse effect. Secondly though, this approach took more time than the more traditional strategies as favored by the other Legions. Furthermore, this led Roboute Guilliman Primarch of the Ultramarines and writer of the Codex Astartes, to question Alpharius' approach to fighting. Since the first believed mostly in discipline and structure, and the second in initiative and flexibility, a violent discussion erupted which was closed when Guilliman pointed to his own Legion's record, something that Alpharius could never hope to achieve, since his Alpha Legion was almost two hundred years younger than the Ultramarines.== History ==
This led ===Pre-Heresy===Alpharius to push his Legion even further. More and more were was the situations where he would take last of the more difficult course lost sons of action the Emperor to force his Space Marines to grow. Plans were more complexbe found, some scant decades before the end of the Great Crusade While most other Primarchs, more subtleaside from Rogal Dorn, while at were found on the same time relying on more and more factors to achieve victory. Training was more intense and new strategies and approaches were constantly developedworlds they had been cast upon, Alpharius apparently came upon Horus' Fleet in an unnamed system.
==The Heresy==Since Alpharius was only familiar with Using a ragtag fleet of primitive one other Primarch, Horus, it is not difficult to see which side and two-man fighters he chose when cleverly put the Heresy came. Indeed, advance ship of the very plan at Isstvan VLuna Wolves where ' fleet in a precarious position, which necessitated the intervention of Horus struck himself. Arriving on his first blow against his fellow Legions by destroying most endangered cruiser, he soon learned that a small team of boarders was making its way towards the bridge. The cruiser was at high alert as the five boarders burst onto the bridge. Quickly four of them were dispatched by Iron HandsBolt Pistolshots from Horus. The fifth one, who towered even over the Luna Wolves' marines dodged Horus' fifth shot, Raven Guard and Salamanders Legions in a massive ambushcontinued to advance regardless of the gunfire. At the last instant, was very reminiscent of plans that Alpharius elaborated in stopped his assault, as both he and Horus realised the pastsituation. Horus laughed, for he had found his last brother.
However, at this pointPleased beyond measure, Horus kept Alpharius with him for some months before sending him back to Terra to meet the Alpha Legion's path differs clearly from the other Traitor LegionsEmperor. Indeed The two formed a strong bond, rather than blindly following Horus to Terrawith Alpharius and his ragtag alliance quickly embracing the Imperium. Both brothers were well impressed with each other, although Alpharius it appears was more interested in proving refused to reveal his own Legion's worth by fighting, at every chance he gothomeworld, denying that each world in the system that the best brothers brough into compliance was his point of the Loyalist legionsorigin. Thus Eventually, even after Horus was cast downAlpharius had to journey to meet his father, the Alpha Legion kept on fightingEmperor. Their meeting was, moving more and more towards as all times when the galactic eastEmperor found one of his lost sons, towards the Ultramarinessurrounded with much celebration. It was on However, since the world known as Crusade that was in full swing, little time was spent in idle rejoicing and Alpharius and Roboute Guilliman would meet for was quickly given command of the XX Legion, created a few decades before. Renamed the last timeAlpha Legion, they followed their Primarch on Crusade.
Believing that Guilliman would adopt his standard Codex deployment proceduresAlpharius quickly developed a unique approach to Astartes operations, Alpharius was surprised by focusing on the Ultramarinesphilosophies of initiative and flexibility, as a splinter force including their Primarch made a quick strike at the Alpha Legion's headquarters. Both Primarchs met in combat well as extensive use of subterfuge and Alpharius was killednon-Astartes specialist operatives. Believing the combat over This multitudious, for who could ever survive the loss almost unstructured approach rankled with Roboute Guilliman Primarch of their Primarch in battle, the Ultramarines were taken by surprise by the remaining elements of the Alpha Legion, when they struck back a day laterleading him to question Alpharius' approach to fighting. After a week of constant fighting and heavy losses, A violent discussion erupted between the Ultramarines strike force managed two which was closed when Guilliman pointed to reunite with their main elementshis own Legion's record, and quickly evacuated the planet. Even though they had lost their Primarchsomething that Alpharius could never hope to achieve, the since his Alpha Legion had soundly beaten was almost two hundred years younger than the Ultramarines.2 They parted company acrimoniously, who proceeded to bombard their foes' position from outer spaceAlpharius believing Gulliman hated him. It should be noted For his part, however, that Alpharius's death is still considered suspect (especially since the report itself was made out of resolved to ignore the writings of an Ultramarine; hardly an unbiased report), even by the Ultramarines, and he may still be at largePrimarch.1
==Post-Heresy==Let us say before we closeHowever, that Inquisitor Kravin's information on the Alpha criticism stuck; Alpharius began to push his Legion was believed to be tainted by even further. More and more were the situations where he would take the sons more difficult course of Alphariusaction to force his Space Marines to grow. IndeedPlans were more complex, after the Ikrilla Conclavemore subtle, it was posited that while at the Inquisitor had been coopted by the very traitors he same time relying on more and more factors to achieve victory. Training was investigating. Thus, all of the previous should be read in a critical fashion, as it could all be fabrication more intense and new strategies and disinformation spread by the Legion..approaches were constantly developed.2
Today still===The Heresy===It has long been supposed that since Alpharius was only familiar with one other Primarch, Horus, it was self-explanatory why he chose the side he did at the outset of the Alpha Legion use their cunning tacticsHeresy. Indeed, to elude and mislead the forces very plan at Isstvan V where Horus struck his first blow against his fellow Legions by destroying most of the Hands, Raven Guard. They are not as clearly and ChaosSalamanders worshippersLegions in a massive ambush, was very reminiscent of plans that Alpharius had created in as much as the past.2 However, it is possible that there is another tool used region for Alpharius leading his Legion to better themselvesthe side of the traitors, a secret known only inside the Legion. Eschewing Around two years before the beginning of the Heresy, Alpharius Omegon was apparently contacted by members of a Xenos organisation called the Eye Cabal, who brought to him visions of Terrorthe impending civil war within the Imperium, and expanded knowledge of the nature and designs of Chaos. It is believed that the Cabal convinced Alpharius that the only way to permanently defeat Chaos was to ensure that Horus was victorious. It is perhaps for this reason that Alpharius Omegon, secretly true to the Imperium and loyal to the Emperor, may have chosen to join the heretics.1  ===Post-Heresy=== During the Heresy Alpharius appeared more interested in proving his own Legion's worth by fighting, at every chance he got, the best of the Loyalist legions. Thus, even after Horus was cast down and the Heresy over, the Alpha Legion kept on fighting, moving more and more towards the galactic east, towards the Ultramarines. It was on the world known as Eskrador that Alpharius and Roboute Guilliman would meet for the last time. Believing that Guilliman would adopt his standard Codex deployment procedures, Alpharius was surprised by the Ultramarines, as a splinter force including their Primarch made a quick strike at the Alpha Legion still lurks's headquarters. Both Primarchs met in combat and Alpharius was killed. Believing the combat over, hidden for who could ever survive the loss of their Primarch in plain sight at battle, the Ultramarines were taken by surprise by the heart remaining elements of the ImperiumAlpha Legion, using deception when they struck back a day later. After a week of constant fighting and misdirection heavy losses, the Ultramarines strike force managed to spread fearreunite with their main elements, confusion and quickly evacuated the planet. Even though they had lost their Primarch, the Alpha Legion had soundly beaten the Ultramarines, who proceeded to bombard their foes' position from outer space. It should be noted, however, that Alpharius's deathis still considered suspect even by the Ultramarines, and he may still be at large.2 On the other hand, it is possible that 'Alpharius' did indeed die and 'Omegon' took sole command of the Legion. Whatever the truth, the Primarch of the Alpha Legion has not been seen since.
