The lance is among the [[ImperialImperium]] 's forces that are defending the [[Imperial]] world [[Fortress 23-Alphus]] from a [[Tyranid]] invasion. During the course of the battle, the Dragonslice began hunting down a [[Winged Hive Tyrant]] that had massacred hundreds of Imperial forces. Among the slain, was the world's [[Imperial Commander]] and Oderik vowed to her, that the Dragonslice would kill the beast. His '''Quarry Hounds''' [[Bondsmen]], [[Lhya]] and [[Viskus]], were charged with tracking the Hive Tyrant and the two went ahead of the rest of the Lance. Three cycles later, the Hounds [[vox]]ed back that the Hive Tyrant's trail led to a canyon. Contact was lost with the two afterwards, but the rest of the Dragonslice were able to find the canyon the Hounds had described.{{Fn|1}}
Once they arrived, the lance saw no signs of the '''Quarry Hounds''', though Oderik was determined to find his [[Bondsmen]] after the Dragonslice's hunt was done. The lance then entered the canyon and found the [[Winged Hive Tyrant]] they sought, along with a large [[Tyranid]] swarm. As the battle began, the Dragonsplice dealt with the Tyranids, while Oderik charged directly towards the Tyrant.{{Fn|1}}
