Overview
The Martian Synod is the prevailing forge-synod that the synods of all other Forge Worlds ultimately owe fealty to as the ultimate authority of their religious institution.1a Consisting of representatives from each Mechanicum enclave5, the Martian Synod often provides arbitration between dispute for disputes between significant Cult Mechanicus parties, such as two Forge Worlds disputing rights over a notable discovery.1b During at least the time of the Great Crusade, the Synod significantly limited the power of the Fabricator-General of Mars.5
In M42, Fabricator General Oud Oudia Raskian was the leader of the Martian Synod for some time.1b In M42, the Synod of Mars approved Archmagos Dominus Belisarius Cawl's designation as Prime Conduit of the Omnissiah by a hefty margin, even though Fabricator General Oud Oudia Raskian hated Cawl.1c Years after Raskian's presumed death, the Synod sent a representative, Leeta Unter Sobel-Phi, to inquire Cawl about usurping the new unnamed Fabricator-General. This unknown individual was put in place through all the proper and official procedures expected of the office. They replaced Raskian and held the office for some amount of time, possibly years.4 Raskian held the office for hundreds of years, until disappearing or being purported as dead by some, and being replaced by a new unknown Fabricator General, properly instated according to the Lore Mechanicus.4
