This pattern was among the first issued to the [[Space Marine Legion]]s, coming after the introduction of [[Mk.III Power Armour]]{{Fn|37a}}, and was used during the [[Great Crusade]] and [[Horus Heresy]] by both the Space Marines{{Fn|11}} and the [[Adeptus Custodes|Legio Custodes]].{{Fn|13}} Although it had become rarer in the period immediately prior to the Horus Heresy, some Legions, such as the [[Iron Hands]], possessed a large number of suits.{{Fn|9}}
