These cheap, mass-produced Astartes were created in large numbers by the collaborationist Selenar Gene-Cult of [[Luna]] following its capture by the forces of [[Horus]] in the [[Solar War]].{{Fn|1a}} The Matriarch of the Selenar, [[Heliosa-78]], had promised to build Horus a "[[Legion]]".{{Fn|2}} By the conclusion of the [[Siege of Terra]], the Selenar had created 7,000 Simulacra Astartes through a mass production process dubbed "gene-looming".{{Fn|1a}}
Simulacra Astartes were not true Space Marines, lacking stable [[Gene-Seed]] implantation and were known for their crazed and undisciplined nature.
