These officers specialized in the wrecking of cities and destruction of fortresses. Siege Breakers demonstrated an eye for detail and the ability to accurately appraise all data before them, allowing them to identify structural weaknesses and direct heavy artillery accordingly. They were often placed an command of frontline artillery units and preferred to closely observe their work on the battlefield rather than sit back behind enemy lines.{{Fn|1}}
