Russ and the Lion arrived to relieve the [[Siege of Terra]] at the same time as immediately after [[Roboute Guilliman]]. However, he was infuriated for not being at the Siege of Terra to aid the Emperor.{{Fn|8k}} During the [[Grand Council of Reconstruction]] he and the Lion along with a badly wounded [[Jaghatai Khan]] supported [[Rogal Dorn]]'s plan of launching an immediate Crusade of vengeance against the fleeing Traitors as opposed to adopting Guilliman's more cautious strategy of consolidation.{{Fn|75a}} However due to the support of the newly empowered [[High Lords of Terra]], Guilliman was able to prevail but the Wolf King would still sate his hunger for revenge by [[Siege of Mars|moving on Traitor-occupied Mars]].{{Fn|75b}}
Russ would later personally lead a force into the Eye of Terror in the hopes of revenge.{{Fn|8k}} Eventually Russ disappeared altogether, pledging to return in the final battle of the "Wolf Time". Leman Russ then vanished and the true whereabouts of the Primarch remain a mystery. Many within the Chapter maintain that Russ has sought out the fabled [[Tree of Life]] in a bid to heal the [[Emperor]].{{Fn|26}} Apparently Magnus the Red knows, but the [[Daemon Primarch]] and his Thousand Sons are not sharing that information with any outside their traitorous ranks.{{Fn|2a}}
