The Nicassar are driven by an insatiable curiosity to explore and travel. It was this which lead them into contact with the Tau and becoming the first addition to the fledgling Tau empire. They continue to serve the [[Greater Good]] by providing fleets to scout and explore. Their ships are very manoeuvrable maneuverable but have little interstellar capabilities and as such are often towed by other Tau ships into battles, and provided with upgraded weaponry provided by the Tau they are now a match for any other escort.
The ships themselves are piloted by the captain’s psychic powers and often join together to form a larger community when embarking on longer journeys. The crew enter deep states of hibernation to overcome their lack of interstellar propulsion.
The first encounter with the Tau was when a Tau explorer was setting up a waystation in intersteller interstellar space and sighted a Nicassar flotilla.
