'''Eldrad Ulthran''', whose name means "First of Ulthwé",{{Fn|19}} was is the chief [[Farseer]] of the [[Ulthwé]] [[Craftworld]]{{fn|10a}} (although he was briefly exiled). {{Fn|10b}} Eldrad is one of the oldest living [[Aeldari]] in the galaxy.{{Fn|19}} He is perhaps the most gifted [[psyker]] amongst the [[Eldar]], his incredible foresight is the most accurate and powerful of any Farseer{{fn|21}} having saved the [[Aeldari]] race many times{{fn|1a}} Eldrad has broken [[Titan]]s, boiled the blood of [[Daemon]]s and slain kings and heroes without number.{{fn|1a5}} Eldrad carries the ancient [[Staff of Ulthamar]] into battle,{{Fn|19}} and his resilience and power has been a rallying point for the declining Eldar race. Since since the [[13th Black Crusade]], Eldrad is considered a [[Eldar_Mythology#Heroes_of_Myth|Legendary Hero]], his name synonymous with wisdom, foresight, and self-sacrifice.{{Fn|3}}

Eldrad Ulthran is over 10,000 ten thousand years old, {{Fn|4}}{{Fn|10b}} one of the oldest living [[Aeldari]] in the galaxy, born some time after the launch of [[Craftworld]] [[Ulthwé]]{{Fn|19}} and before the [[Fall of the Eldar]].{{Fn|1a}} Ulthran forsaw the [[Tyranid|The Great Devourer]] before it ever entered the galaxy.{{Fn|21}} It is at Eldrad's direction that [[Craftworld]] [[Ulthwé]] remains close to the [[Eye of Terror]], vigilantly guarding against [[Chaos]].{{fn|19}}

Eldrad has lead [[Craftworld]] [[Ulthwé]] since the [[Fall of the Eldar]]{{Fn|1a}}{{fn|4}} personally saving remnants of the [[Aeldari]] race from danger over a hundred times in the few short centuries that followed.{{Fn|1a}}

On [[Andante IV]], Eldrad led an expedition to counter{{Fn|19}} an attack by [[Ezekyle Abaddon]] and the [[Chaos Sorcerer|Sorcerer]] [[Zaraphiston]] on a Webway gate which, if captured, could lead to Ulthwé.{{Fn|2}} His ultimate aim was not to attack the Craftworld itself, but to wipe out Ulthwé's [[Seer Council]] by eliminating their only means of escaping the planet.{{Fn|2a}} Eldrad coordinated the defences of the forces of [[Ulthwé]]{{fn|3}} along with the allied [[Asuryani]] forces of the [[Ghostwind (Asuryani)|Ghostwind]],{{fn|322}} pouring his consciousness into [[Spirit_stone#Waystones|Waystone]]s{{fn|15}} and distributing the stones among his lietennants which enabled him to guide the myriad strike forces through the [[Webway]] to coordinate attacks and unleash the full potency of his [[Eldar_Psychic_Powers#Farseer|Eldritch Storm]] attacks in multiple places at once.{{Fn|15}}

====The Time of EndingAwakening Ynnead====In the closing days of the 41st Millennium, Eldrad concocted a scheme to bring about the awakening of [[Ynnead]] through a mass psychic ritualenlisting the aid of the [[Masque of the Midnight Sorrow]]. {{Fn|10c}} However, he was foiled by the [[Deathwatch]] in the [[Battle of Port Demesnus]] upon [[Coheria]].{{Fn|8}} Later during the [[Battle of Biel-Tan]], Eldrad led the newly formed [[Ynnari]] to victory and helped create the [[Yncarne]]. However the cost in doing so was high. Three of Ulthwé's finest [[Farseer]]s turned to crystal during the ritual that opened the portal through which the Ynnari made their escape. For this act, and for the wayward arrogance he displayed on [[Coheria]], Eldrad was exiled from Ulthwé by its [[Seer Council]].{{Fnfn|10}}

Eldrad eventually returned to Ulthwé, leading his Ynnari in the [[Battle of Ulthwé|defense of the Craftworld]].{{Fn|1010b}} In his reestablished role on Ulthwé's Seer Council he instructed Yvraine and her Ynnari in retrieving the [[Hand of Darkness]] for [[Roboute Guilliman]].{{Fn|16}} Sometime afterwards while exploring the [[Falls of Unshead Tears]] within the Webway, he encountered the Slaaneshi Daemon [[N'Kari]], who attemped to trick him to claim his soul. However Eldrad is able to drink from the falls, gaining a vision of Ynnead's rise and the full awakening of the [[Necron]]s. The rune of Saim-Hann appears at the end of his vision, which leads Eldrad to believe the [[Craftworld]] holds special significance.{{Fn|17a}} To that end, he accompanies Yvraine and the Ynnari alongside a Saim-Hann warhost to [[Zaisuthra]] to potentially discover the last [[Cronesword]]{{Fn|17b}}, though they are ultimately unsuccessful.{{Fn|17c}}

Eldrad has since drifted from the Ynnarri cause, believing that Yvraine has become increasingly desperate and is too willing to sacrifice Eldar to pursue her goals.,{{Fn|18}} and not seeing hers as the path which avoids the [[Rhana Dandra]]{{Fn|10c}}
