Slasher beasts are native to the [[Death World]] of [[Luther McIntyre]] but were introduced as apex predators to [[Calana VII]] by [[Rogue Trader]]s acting under license from the [[Genetor-Biologis]] of the [[Adeptus Mechanicus]] during an attempt to reseed the planet following it's its [[Virus Bomb]]ing after the [[Reign of Blood]].{{fnFn|1}} Away from the hostile deserts they evolved in, the Slasher Beast slaughtered all forms of life on the planet, rendering Calana VII another Death World – the planet now exists purely for aristocrat hunters to participate in bloody culls, and [[Space Marine]] chapters to test their new recruits.{{Fn|1}}
