History
The Bloc's doom came, when the Hive Fleet's Bio-ships later attacked the Hold that held the Votann that would become the Mad Core. In order to protect the sacred relic, the League's Kindred held their ground and, as the battle raged, the heavily outnumbered Bloc worked to protect their dead from the Hive Fleet, by placing them inside their Votann. This caused the bodies to be broken down and the dead's memories were collected by the Votann, until which absorbed the Tyranids overwhelmed pain and sorrow of millions of Kin in short order. This served to drive the Core mad and the Blocfell to the Tyranids.12
The relic was completely ignored by the Hive Fleet afterwards, though, and when the Hold's biomatter was consumed, the Tyranids simply departed from the world. The Bloc's Votann was then left alone with the absorbed accumulated pain and desolation of those who had fought, died and been returned to their Ancestors through the use of the relic. This drove the Votann's machine mind insane and the sorrowful tale of the Mad Core is still told amongst the surviving Leagues. All know not to sail by the wavering beacon of the Core's tortured mind.1
