Overview
The Retaliator is a well-rounded vessel of Imperial origin, able to perform in several roles. Its defenses defences and macrobatteries2 allow it to engage in broadside shootouts, its long-range lances allow it to provide fire support, and its launch bays can support four unleash several squadrons of attack craft. Unfortunately, this versatility comes at the cost of not quite being able to match up to specialist ships in a given area.1
Retaliator-class Grand Cruisers have been in the service of Chaos since at least M35, when the Foebane and its squadron mutinied against the Galan V garrison fleet during what would become known as the Treachery of Galan.1

Notes
*Note 1: The Retaliator's stated length seems to be an error. A few other grand cruisers of nigh-identical hull pattern and tonnage, such as the Avenger and Exorcist, are over 7 rather than just 6 kilometres long.
