[[Canoness]] [[Praxedes]] of the [[Order of Our Martyred Lady]] assists the [[Imperial Guard]] on the [[cardinal world]] of [[Okassis]] against [[Hive Fleet]] [[Kraken]]. They defeat the first wave only to have the second wave breach the walls of the Ecclesiarchal Cathedral. Praxedes buys precious time for evacuation by slaying a [[Hive Tyrant]], but shortly afterward succumbs to a mortal wound. The disruption caused by the Hive Tyrant's death makes successful the evacuation of the [[Ecclesiarchy]]'s priests as well as civilians at the space port.{{Fn|64}}

|Encouraged by their success on [[Dûriel]], craftworlds [[Iyanden]] and [[Biel-Tan]] use [[Fireheart]] in a bio-purge campaign to deny the tyranids bio-mass and destroy massed Tyranids while they are planetside. The Eldar's ruthless purge countless worlds, many were uninhabited, but scores of peaceful civilisations were also erased.{{Fn|131}} A cordon of dead worlds is created around the [[Octarius]] system.{{Fn|39}}
Forty [[Space Marine Chapter]]s are sent to investigate the mysterious destruction beyond the scope of the Tyranids, many are caught in conflict with [[ork]]s dissplaced by the Eldar's purge. The [[Crimson Castellans]] and [[Invaders]] Chapters, ignorant of the Eldar motives, assail Iyanden as they move to destroy the [[agri world]]s of the [[Verdox System]]. While at [[Verdox II]], [[Autarch]] [[Sunspear]] flawlessly draws the pursuing Astartes Chapters into conflict with the descending forces of Leviathan. Sunspear warns the Chapters of the worlds impending collapse and departs into the [[webway]] less than an hour before the world collapses into atomic fire.{{Fn|131}}
