The Fatecallers were the scholars of the library of Biel-Tanigh who did not fall to the hedonistic persuit pursuit of knowledge and in so doing survived the Fall of the Eldar.2a The Fatecallers used the Asurentesh, (the Heart of Asuryan ), a mechanism of older than the library itself, to understand the state of the world after the Fall of the Eldar. They learned of She Who Thirsts and it's its hold on Eldar souls, of Chaos and its role in the fall, the nature of the Tears of Isha and gathered one for each of them, and eventually attempted to gaze upon and understand Slaanesh herself2a – an act which sent their still-enraptured spirits within the nascent Waystones and left their soul-less bodies covered in Daemon-Web, harilike hairlike crystals of entropic residue.2a1a
Maugan Ra was a foundling of the library and was raised by the Fatecallers, and was responsible for feeding the group and working their garden after the Fall of the Eldar.2a Maugan Ra gathered the Waystones of the twenty Fatecallers and integrated them into a Matrix within the Asurentesh. After he met Asurmen and Jain Zar, Maugan Ra agreed to relocate the Asurentesh and the Waystones of the Fatecallers to the First Shrine on Asur.2a1a Forever gazing upon She Who Thirsts, the spirits of the Fatecallers supply the Asurya with prophecy which guide their actions – it was they who fortold foretold the Rhana Dandra and the defeat of She Who Thirsts.2b1b
