The organization was later headquartered on the [[Imperial]] world [[Messina]], but they were targeted{{Fn|2a}} by the [[Heretic]] [[Pontius Glaw]]{{Fn|2b}} circa 396.[[M41]]. [[Vessorine Janissaries]]{{Fn|2a}} [[Mercenary]] bands{{Fn|2c}} would then attack the Distaff{{Fn|2a}} as part of Glaw's plot to kill [[Inquisitor]] [[Eisenhorn]] and destroy his network of contacts.{{Fn|2b}} The organization was essentially wiped out in the attack, although off-shoot elements of the Distaff are rumored to have survived beyond this date.{{Fn|2a}}
