In combat, Wyverns pump their powerful leathery wings to gain height and speed, before soaring to attack the Snakebites' foes. The creatures are also able to engage in close combat as well.1
Cyber-Wyvern
The Snakebites' Painboy and Runtherds can also work together to Cyber-Wyverns, which modify the creatures with bits. They are only used by these Oddboys and each type has a distinct Cyber-Wyvern model made to suit their needs. However they all have armorarmour-plated underbellies, which protect the Cyber-Wyverns from ground-based attacks.1
Painboy Cyber-Wyvern
Cyber-Wyverns used by the Snakebites' Painboys are armed with bolters and racks of special Bouncing Squig-Bombs. These racks lie beneath the Cyber-Wyverns' wings, close to their underbellies, and each bomb is filled with Buzzer Squigs. When the Painboys jettison the bombs on enemies on the ground, they will bounce several times before cracking open and letting the angered Buzzers out. These flying Squigs will then will attack anything nearby, though their bites cannot penetrate the armor armour of vehicles. The Buzzers will then disperse once their anger is spent, unless they enter a feeding frenzy after tasting flesh. Cyber-Wyvern Painboys are also equipped with Flying Goggles and a huge syringe that is filled with a special fungus mixture. Once they use the syringe on their mounts, the Cyber-Wyverns will be driven into a killing frenzy during close combat.1
Runtherd Cyber-Wyvern
Cyber-Wyverns used by Runtherds are fitted with two cupola-mounted autocannons, that are mounted on either side of the creatures' underbellies. The cupolas offer the autocannons a 180° fire arc and they are crewed by enthusiastic Gretchin gunners. However, unless they are yelled at by the Cyber-Wyvern's Runtherd, the Gretchin will happily blaze away at anything they see.1
