The war began on [[Castus (World)|Castus]], where Imperial compliance had gone well until the tribal clans of the Acceredine Enclave rejected subjugation. The dissenters were led by Chieftain [[Assilla Gedyr]], taking the heads of a hundred Imperial officials as a declaration of her war. Soon enough the rebellion spread across Castus.{{Fn|1}}
The 2nd Regiment of the XVth Legion, later known as the [[Thousand Sons]], was assigned to put down the rebellion. After a fierce orbital bombardment the Legion launched a vicious assault on the Acceredine Enclave with 50 [[Space Marine]]s and 1,000 [[Imperial Army]] troops, but the heavily armored armoured warriors withstood the assault. In response the Legionaries adjusted their tactics, withdrawing to gunships while making outlaying tribal leaders generous offers for surrender. Soon enough Gedyr found herself encircled, and was subjected to another heavy orbital bombardment.{{Fn|1}}
The Imperials began the cycle of attacking the walls of her shielded fortress, withdrawing, launching another orbital bombardment, and repeating the process. Eventually her shields failed, and Gedyr committed suicide before she could be taken. The rest of her bloodline were taken to forced labor on [[Cthonia]].{{Fn|1}}
