Overview
On their wealthy Homeworld, those that withstand the subterranean coming-of-age ritual known as the Trial of the Lava Lakes enjoy a wealth that is more than sufficient to buy their way out of the Astra Militarum. But Ventrillia has a proud military culture with a history of dueling that stretches back to pre-Imperial times, and few Nobles would risk the dishonor dishonour of giving up their commissions.2 Or the wrath of any Commissar who learned of such tithe avoidance.7 Instead, the Nobles "donate" their wealth to Departmento Munitorum officials and Rogue Traders in exchange for assignments and passage to war zones rich in adventure and glory, rather than simply being fed to the meat grinder. When the Nobles go to war they do so armed not only with a lasgun and bayonet, but also an ancestral dueling sword, a quickblade, or heavy zwei-hander.2
Their Regiments are known for their ruthless discipline8 and for using Ventrillia's wealth to keep the Nobles' Regiments equipped with ostentatious opulence and splendor. These are to the standards their highest-born scions are used to and even the lowest-born Nobles' uniforms are often of greater value than officers of other worlds. Also the Adeptus Mechanicus uses the rarest of gem stones found on Ventrillia, for manufacturing and research purposes. In order to have a steady supply of these gems, the Mechanicus makes sure that the Nobles are abundantly equipped with Super-Heavy Tanks. Like their uniforms, these tanks are also superior to those found in other Astra Militarum Regiments.7 The Nobles' wealth also ensures they are given rations that do not include Corpse-Starch, indoor dormitories for their use, and also squires and manservants to assist them with menial tasks.Cite Marker End

However due to their pride and wealth, the Nobles are not welcoming to non-Ventrillia Guardsmen who join their ranks. They do not even fight within the Nobles' Regiments, instead being grouped together in Sub-Regiments known as the Ventrillian Ignobles. These combine the Nobles' ruthless discipline, but with poorer housing conditions within barracks and a supply of Corpse-Starch, as the Nobles feel this is more likely what the newcomers are accustomed to. This is all done, so that the Ignobles will not be distracted by the Nobles' opulence and this attitude even extends to the Sub-Regiments' equipment.8
