Though miniaturised, they are capable of replicating the punch of full-sized weapons such as [[laspistol]]s, [[hellpistol]]s, [[needle pistol]]s, [[hand flamer]]s, and [[Inferno pistol]]s. Though a digital weapon can be fired while holding something else in one's hands, the weapon can only be fired once and reloading is extremely difficult.{{Fn|1}} Often, they are used in hand-to-hand combat scenarios, to give the combatant an unexpected edge or to exploit a gap in their enemy's guard.{{Fn|8}}
The technology required to manufacture digi-weapons is beyond the capabilities of the Imperium. The smallest and most compact digi-weapons can only be created by the [[Jokaero]] species, with the vast majority of digital weapons being crafted by them as well. Accordingly, they are very rare and almost impossible to buy. These weapons would never see their way into general service and most will never see one in their lives. Their possession is normally restricted to the extremely wealthy or influential;{{Fn|2}} they are most commonly used by the [[Inquisition]], notably by [[Inquisitor]]s, as well as [[Rogue Trader]]s,{{Fn|4}} and even some [[Space Marines]] will utilise them as special issue gear.{{Fn|8}}
