The Sons of Antaeus are [[Ultramarines]] successors,{{Fn|2}} but like all the chapters created during the [[21st Founding]] it's believed that the [[Magos Biologis]] charged with overseeing the Founding manipulated their [[gene-seed]].{{Fn|4}} This has given them a mutation that, like the [[Space Wolves]] and [[Black Dragons]], has provided them with unforeseen benefits in combat. Due to this mutation, The Sons of Antaeus boast a strong, almost metallic bone structure, making them capable of withstanding damage that would kill any normal Space Marine, with their endurance being compared to that of the [[Plague Marines]] of the [[Death Guard]].{{Fn|1a}}
The Sons of Antaeus gene-seed is no not stable, leading to some . Some of their numbersnumber, known as [[Cursed Knights (Cursed Founding troops)|Cursed Knights]], appear to seemingly having have escaped their chapter's curse and lacking lack the mutations their brethren’s brethren have , but this veneer of perfection hides often more extreme mutations. And other Other brothers suffering the worst extremes of the chapter's curse, known as [[Abominations (Cursed Founding troops)| Abominations]].{{Fn|1b}} Those troops are not used by the chapter when fighting alongside imperial Imperial allies.{{Fn|1a}}
