It is impossible to reach the Black Library itself without encountering the Guardians, and few have ever passed them.{{Fn|2}} The Guardians are described as the most terrible of all perils in the [[Webway]], and they are dreaded individuals even among their [[Eldar]] kindred.{{CMEFn|3}}
The Guardian-Scribes maintain a hawk-like watch over their books and, since the [[Fall of the Eldar]], have begun to collate and transcribe the Black Library's knowledge of [[Chaos]] to disseminate it among the Aeldari.{{Fn|1}}
