==Overview==

They were among the [[Salamanders]]' [[Ultima Founding|newly created]] [[Successor Chapter|Successors]], who honoured their [[Founding Chapter]] by aiding in the search for the [[Artifacts of Vulkan]]. In the Covenant of Fire's case, they deployed multiple [[Space Marine Company|Companies]] to take part in the effort.{{Fn|2}} They then accompanied [[Vulkan He'stan]] on his journey to the world of [[Zero]].{{Fn|2}} However on Zero, it was revealed that the [[Alpha Legion]] had infiltrated the Chapter and swayed much of the planet to their cause. In the subsequent battle the Salamanders and their successors prevailed, but no source of the [[Unbound Flame]] was revealed.{{Fn|4}}

The Covenant of Fire bears some similarities to the pre-Heresy [[Word Bearers]] including a similar chapter symbol and the burning of any heretical text they find.{{Fn|3}}
