When it occurred, though, Manus promised he would return to lead the Iron Hands against it and the apparition then disappeared.{{Fn|22}}
Since the Heresy, rumors rumours have persisted that Ferrus did not truly die upon Isstvan and may have been spirited away to [[Mars]] where his body was restored.{{Fn|1a}} [[Clan Kaargul]] maintains that Ferrus Manus will return one day when the Imperium needs him once more. On the world of [[Draor]], [[Inquisitor]] [[Kinebad]], accompanied by a companion known only as [[Tsu'gan|'Scar-borne']], uncovered an ancient Obelisk detailing a pact made between [[Guilliman]], [[Dorn]], and the shattered [[Iron Hands]] [[Space Marine Legion|Legion]]. In return for their adherence to the nascent [[Codex Astartes]], the Iron Hands were given the Skull of Ferrus Manus. How exactly Guilliman and Dorn retrieved the skull is unknown.{{Fn|7}} As of [[M41]], Ferrus’s skull is rumored rumoured to be at the center of the [[The Eye of Medusa|Eye of Medusa]] upon an altar watched over by a [[Helfather]] who does not eat, drink, sleep, or blink in his ceaseless watch of the Primarch.{{Fn|18}}
