Dakkarian Brain Slug: clean up, replaced: rumor → rumour
The Dakkarian Brain Slug are parasitic creatures, that are found in the dense jungles of Dakkar.8
They turn their prey into puppets after directly attaching themselves to a host's nervous system. This is done by breaking the dermal layer of skin on the back of the host's skin, where the creatures feed themselves on their victims' blood. Once under the Slugs' control, the hosts become the creatures' puppets and can move even when dealt deadly wounds, that would normally kill them. When the Slugs are directly threatened, though, the parasites can also hide within the opening they made, and then extend a small breathing tube out so they can pass undetected amongst uninfected creatures. Combined with the ability to quickly change hosts, regardless of their size, Brain Slugs are possibly the most insidious and deadliest creatures Dakkar has to offer. There are even persistent rumors rumours that the parasites have sought to gain passage off-world by purposely attaching themselves to Imperials destined for Astra Militarum Conscript Barges. However even the slightest hint of a Brain Slug infestation, will have Guardsmen with flamers unleashed to cleanse entire Conscript contingents. Though given the parasites' abilities to quickly hide or infest different hosts, it is near impossible to ensure that a Brain Slug infestation has been completely eliminated.8
