The PAGENAME or Nephilim War is a campaign of the Psychic Awakening and Indomitus Crusade.1 While initially a standard Imperial expedition to investigate the fate of the Nephilim Sector, it has since escalated into a four-way conflict involving Humanity, Chaos, and two differing Necron factions.9e

Overview
Initial Imperial Expedition
Prelude
Shortly after his Return to Terra, the reborn Roboute Guilliman learned of the beginnings of what would become the Necron Pariah Nexus. Advised by Belisarius Cawl as to the scale of the threat, Guilliman decided to first investigate the extent of the Necron network and then launch an expedition to destroy it. A great council of war including representatives from all major Imperial factions was held aboard the Dawn of Fire where Guilliman outlined his strategy.11a During the council Guilliman declared that Battle Group Kallides was dispatched to first conduct a reconnaissance-in-force of the Nephilim Sector and investigate the threat. Commanded by Groupmaster Kaspar Marius Todoric Marran, the Imperial forces consisted of Imperial Guard, Imperial Navy, Mechanicum, House Terryn, House Mortan, Ultramarines, Black Templars, Sisters of Battle, and Legio Castigatum. Also present were Ordo Xenos detachments under Lord Inquisitor Kyria Draxus. Once this force had assessed the situation in the sector, Guilliman would personally lead Fleet Primus with support from Fleet Tertius to destroy the Pariah Nexus. Cawl outlined how destroying the Necron "keystone" Pylon at Mesmoch in the Zeidos System would severely disrupt the network. Unknown to most of the Imperials, Cawl's true target was Planet 7/2, with the attack on Mesmoch as well as a fleet incursion in the Paradyce System meant as a diversion to draw away the Necrons.11b
Moving into the Nephilim Sector, Battlegroup Kallides soon found the effects of the Pariah Nexus to be malign, with Imperial Guard forces that landed on worlds in the region often abandoning their posts, falling into panic, or simply becoming unresponsive. Space Marines and servants of the Omnissiah complained about headaches. Void-traffic was non-existent and communication all but impossible. Cities and worlds were found nearly entirely depopulated. The effects of the nexus only did not seem to effect the Adepta Sororitas.1a In time the Imperials dubbed this effect the "Stilling".4a
Vie Almus Majoria Counterpush
In the wake of the disaster at Mesmoch. Battle Group Kallides reeled as it attempted to investigate the Pariah Nexus. Battle Group Kallides, lead by Field Marshal Bigelis Thao, struggled to gain a foothold on the world of Vie Almus Majora, with a disastrous initial defeat at the Battle of Ishlarn Thermokarst, wherein 20 armoured regiments and 10 Infantry Regiments were encircled and nearly destroyed - these regiments included; Chancyllian Ironclads, Gabikhan Thunderers, Pteroni Highryders, and the Gelzoan Light Infantry. Imperial forces were eventually pushed back over a number of months to a small region. Only after the victory on Cherist, and the realisation that Faith could prevent the Stilling, did the Counterpush begin to succeed. The Marshal's plan for a counterattack won approval from the supporting Darkspires, Sons of Orar, and Harrowers Chapters. A breakout, assisted by Space MarinesMarine lighting strikes, was successful.2a
