Born at the time of the [[Great Crusade]], Lilean Chase was a librarian in the [[Hall of Leng]] within the [[Imperial Palace]]. She became intertwined with [[Kyril Sindermann]], [[Hellick Mauer]], and eventually [[Ahzek Ahriman]] during the final stages of the [[Siege of Terra]] as the group attempted to scour the library for information on the Daemonic.{{Fn|3}}
After the Heresy, Chase joined the [[Inquisition]]. However, she later turned against the organization organisation and joined the Cognitae, founding an academy on [[Hesperus (Planet)|Hesperus]] in 321.[[M41]]. Undertaking eugenics and cloning experiments to create the perfect operatives, she created agents such as [[Zygmunt Molotch]]. However her academy was eventually wiped out by the Inquisition, apparently killing Chase.{{Fn|1}} [[Alizebeth Bequin]] however later speculates that one of her Cogintae tutors, [[Mam Mordaunt]], may in fact be Lilean Chase.{{Fn|2}}
A book by Lilean Chase was later translated by [[Gideon Ravenor]] and [[Gregor Eisenhorn]]'s group, revealing the name of the [[King in Yellow]] to apparently be [[Constantin Valdor]].{{Fn|2a}}
