A Dreadknight pilot is connected via synaptic implants to the Dreadknight, which allows the pilot to control the weapon and movement systems. The mental strength and reaction speed needed to effectively pilot the Dreadknight is such that most Grey Knights do not pass the requirements. However, those that do are undoubtedly some of the most honoured warriors to ever belong to the Grey Knights.1a So it is that Nemesis Dreadknight pilots are amongst the Grey Knights’ most honoured warriors, for through long years of training and meditation they have mastered skills that are the envy of their brethren.3 Only a Grand Master can fully unlock its psychic potential.7
The origin of the Dreadknight is unclear, but it seems to be a relic from the Dark Age of Technology; some whisper it to be of Xenos influence. For the Grey Knights, however, this is irrelevant, as all that matters is the machine's fearsome capabilities against Daemons. Few organizations organisations in the Imperium could afford such a lax attitude against possible techno-heresy, but the Grey Knights' position within the Emperor's domain sees them answer in theory only to the Inquisition.3
Recent innovations by Techmarines on Titan have allowed for a number of new formidable weapons that draw from the psychic strength of a user such as the Nemesis Mace, Nemesis Flail, and Sublimator.7
