With the aid of a contingent of [[Raptors (Chapter)|Raptors]], Battle Group Orphaeus hunted down a major warband of [[Aeldari Corsairs]] which had preyed upon Imperial shipping along the border of the Great Rift.{{Fn|2}}
During the [[Pariah Crusade]], task forces from the [[Battle Group]] were sent into the [[Nephilim Anomaly]], while Orphaeus' [[Groupmaster]] remained with the rest of its forces to wage war beyond the Anomaly's growing boundary. As they were unprepared for the dangers they faced within it, these task forces initially suffered terribly from the Anomaly's effects, such as the deadly [[Stilling]]. However, they were later found by [[Battle Group Kallides (Fleet Primus)|Battle Group Kallides]], which had been waging war against the [[Necron]]s who created the Anomaly for some time and were now in desperate need of reinforcements.{{Fn|1}}
Kallides' Groupmaster, [[Kaspar Marius Todoric Marran]], soon had Orphaeus' task forces integrated into his Battle Group and reorganised them so that their faithful [[Adepta Sororitas]] and zealous [[Skitarii]] cohorts were spread throughout its task forces. His Battle Group's forces had learned at great cost that these groups could greatly reduce the Anomaly's effects amongst their troops and this proved the same for Orphaeus' task forces. Their commanders would readily submit to Marran's authority, as with their own Groupmaster elsewhere, they saw him as an immovable anchor of reliability and sanity amongst the horror that confronted them. And soon Marran's faith bolstered their spirits as they joined Kallides' [[Pariah Crusade|battle]] against the Necrons.{{Fn|1}}
