Karanos V is a former Imperial world, overrun by Orks.
History
Karanos V, in the Karanos System, was settled by humans millennia ago during the Golden Age of Expansion. These humans struggled and succeeded against ancient Xenos civilisations, remaining long after the extinction of their foes. During the time of the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy, great orbital defence platforms were set up to protect its then-verdant soil and did so, until the arrival of Waaagh! Big Zag, whose voidcraft bypassed these defences, dropping out of the Warp mere miles from the planet's surface and turning the defences on the Imperium's own fleet.1a
An Astra Militarum force passing through the system attempted to hold Karanos V, marshalling survivors in Hive Septimus with the invaluable assistance of a member of the Mentors Astartes Chapter.
