White Scars Heraldry
The heraldry of the White Scars is deeply rooted in the tribal traditions of their homeworld Chogoris, particularly the Talskar tribe, from which they take their iconic white armour and scarring customs. Before the coming of Jaghatai Khan, the Vth Legion used a wide variety of unofficial insignia, with each autonomous company adopting its own markings. After being united under the Khan, the Legion adopted a distinct Chogorian-inspired aesthetic.2a28b54a

During the Horus Heresy, the standard colour of White Scars power armour was ivory-white, accented by red chevrons whose size and placement were chosen by the individual warrior. Armour trim could be gold, bronze or enamelled red, with additional adornments including horsehair cords, stamped coins and Chogorian script marking rank, honours, specialisation or allegiance. Notable exceptions existed among specialised formations, such as the Karaoghlanlar, who wore deep crimson or dull black armour decorated with shamanic wards, and the Ebon Keshig, who bore black armour with white elements.28f54a54b
