IN Warhammer 40,000, Close Combat is used to describe when a target gets into the act of melee range fighting, where shooting at them ranged weapons would be a waste of ammunition. This leaves one option, so one would fight fighting in hand to hand combat with them. There are many weapons designed for close combat, ranging from a simple Chainsword or Choppa , to more complex weapons, such as a the Power Weapon and Power Fist. Some armies excel at engaging in close combat, such as Orks, Blood Angels, World Eaters Khorne Berserkers, and Space Wolves. Armies such as these are usually described as 'choppy', meaning they do well in close combat. Other armies, such as Imperial Guard, Tau, Necrons (and in some cases Eldar) tend to be more 'shooty', having only a few specialist units that can go into close combat without suffering as many casualties.
