→Armour
Armour
Most guardsmen wear Flak Armour, very a cheaply produced, lightweight armor vest provided en masse to Imperial Guard units. A flak vest cosists of a skeleton of lightweight, flexible metal. This skeleton is then wrapped in multiple layers of a high-tensile fabric that is the main armor component of the armor. After multiple layers of fabric are affixed to the skeleton, the entire vest is dipped into a vat of an epoxy-like resin, which is baked onto the armor, giving it its hard but flexible outer shell. These vests are rugged, and hold up well against shrapnel and cheap to manufacture indirect fire, but unable to stop have a low chance of stopping high strength weapons-power or energy weaponry. The same principle is used in the production of Guardsman helmets, and bracers. Guards for knees and legs can and are also produced. Imperial Guard uniforms are also made with the a form of the flak-fabric, and are flame-resistant, rugged, and durable. They come in various forms, heavy overcoats for regiments from cold worlds such as Valhalla or light, revealing combat gear from worlds like Catachan. Sometimes it is incorporated into parade gear for regiments such as the Mordian Iron Guard and sometimes it is augmented with other strengthening gear such as with the Harakoni Warhawks.1
